Honour for Taulov dairy

On the second day of the World Cheese and Butter Championships in Wisconsin in the US, Havarti cheese from Arla Foods came out tops.

Taulov dairy won gold in the “spiced hard cheese” category with a 55 Havarti Piquant. The previous day, Nr Vium dairy won gold and silver in the Havarti category.

The competition’s second day also secured a silver medal and two bronze medals for Arla Foods.

Sweden’s Kalmar dairy took a silver medal in the reduced fat cheese category for a shredded cheese. In the blue cheese category, Høgelund dairy came in third with a Danish Blue while Vellev dairy won a bronze medal in the Open Class Semi-Soft Cheeses category with a Hohlenkäse Classic.

A total of 1,312 cheeses and butter products from 19 countries compete in the world championships’ 40 categories. The results of the individual categories are published on www.wischeesemakersassn.org.

The competition continues until Thursday when the winners of the individual categories battle for the final world championship. The champion will be declared on Thursday afternoon (US time).

The championships are organised by Wisconsin Cheese Makers’ Association. The competition has been held since 1957.
