Swedish and Danish staff at Arla Foods may find their loyalties divided when the two countries’ national soccer teams clash in the initial group games at Euro 2004 in Portugal.

Sponsored by Arla Foods, the Danish players, wearing Arla’s logo on their kit, will face their Swedish cousins in what has been named “The Battle of Scandinavia” in the third and, possibly deciding, game of the group. Both teams will arrive in Portugal with a good deal of confidence after having lost only one game each during the qualifying round.

Last time thw two teams faced each other was in April 2000 in Copenhagen one week after the merger between danish MD Foods and swedish Arla. On that occasion, the Swedes won 1-0.

Denmark’s two other group opponents are Italy and Bulgaria beginning with Italy on Monday June 14. The game against Bulgaria is on Friday June 18 and against Sweden on Tuesday June 22.

Arla Foods is an international dairy company owned by more than 8,400 farmers from Denmark, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Arla Foods is one of the leading players in the international dairy arena with well-known brands like Arla®, Lurpak®, Puck® and Castello®. Arla Foods is focused on providing good dairy nourishment from sustainable farming and operations and is also the world's largest manufacturer of organic dairy products.
