Increasing sales of sliced cheese in Germany have necessitated further expansion of Arla Foods’ Nr. Vium dairy.

At a cost of DKK 43 million, the planned expansion which is part of Arla Foods’ overall investment programme for the 2002/2003 dairy year, comprises an extra 3,500m² in the slicing area and the addition of a further of 3,500 m² to the dairy’s cold stores.

According to Administration Manager Carsten Olsen, the dairy expects to increase production by 3,000 tons next year. The dairy will also slice and pack 6,000 tons supplied by other Arla Foods’ dairies.
