The privately-owned Norwegian dairy company, Synnøve Finden, is attempting to intensify competition with the Tine Norske Meierier organisation through a strategic partnership with Fellesmeieriet, the fourth largest co-operative dairy within the Tine family. Most Norwegian dairies currently market their products through Tine Norske Meierier.

Recently, Synnøve Finden approached Fellesmeieriet to discuss a possible partnership and Fellesmeieriet is expected to arrive at a decision at an Extraordinary General Meeting in November.
Synnøve Finden occupies a strong position in the Norwegian cheese market, while Fellesmeieriet in 1999 had sales of 2 billion Norwegian kroner within fresh goods. Over the past few years Arla Foods has been involved in a sales partnership with Synnøve Finden.
