The Duke of York chats to staff during an impromptu walkabout at Leeds dariy.

Despite heavy rain a big crowd of Arla Foods’ staff had assembled to welcome HRH the Duke of York when he arrived at Arla Foods' dairy in Leeds on Friday, 15 September . One hour late due to a delayed flight from London, the duke talked informally with several of the dairy's employees, before the official tour of the dairy commenced.
The Duke of York, Queen Elizabeth II's second son and fourth in line to the throne, was given a briefing on Arla Foods as well as an introduction to the company's training programmes. Following a guided tour of the production facilities, the duke was shown the pride of the doorstep fleet, the Formula 1 milk float, which has been specially built to resemble a racing car with go-faster stripes, wings, lowered suspension and alloy wheels. The electric floats tour schools to promote the goodness of milk.
Naturally, the duke also had an opportunity to taste a selection of Arla Foods' products and was presented with two Douglas the Butterman characters from the famous Lurpak commercials for his two young daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. As a light-hearted personal memento, the duke was given an engraved milk churn filled with special Arla golf balls – a gesture which brought a wide smile to the face of the golf-loving duke.
