About Sami Naffakh

A COO with 25 years comprehensive international leadership experience in fast moving consumer goods Supply Chain, Sami Naffakh aims to secure competitive operations to meet increasing global demand for safe, affordable and sustainable dairy at a time when the world’s population is growing faster than ever before and when volatility and uncertainty in the dairy market are at their highest.  

Sami joined Arla in January 2018 as Executive Vice President for Supply Chain and member of the Executive Management Team at Arla Foods. Arla Foods is a farmer-owned dairy cooperative with sales in more than 120 markets, an annual intake of 14 billion kilos of milk and also the world’s largest producer of organic dairy products. 

Sami heads up a multinational organisation of 13,000 colleagues based across more than 70 dairies, 120  distribution centres and operations in five continents. His responsibilities include Arla’s manufacturing and logistics operations worldwide, global procurement of goods and services as well as support functions including quality and food safety, health and safety and sustainability.    

Sami has initiated a significant transformation of supply chain that will happen gradually across the entire operation from farm to retailer. The goal is to increase competitiveness, agility and sustainability to quickly adapt to evolving consumer trends and customer requirements.  

The transformation includes increased digitalisation and automation as well as optimised processes and investments. Due to the speed of development in technologies as well as the volatility in commodity prices and milk volumes, Sami underlines the growing requirement for reliable analytics, strong foresight and bold leadership to make the right decisions.  

With food safety, workplace safety and the code of conduct for suppliers under his jurisdiction, Sami is a firm believer that dairy can be part of a sustainable diet and is personally committed to making food production continuously more sustainable. He seeks to engage every site and every colleague to play a role in identifying and implementing improvements , including minimising wasted milk, ingredients, packaging, finished products, energy and water. 

Sami has a demonstrable history in FMCG supply chain, having held leadership roles within global businesses such as Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, Danone and Estee Lauder. He has also been based in several locations across the world. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from Hautes Etudes d'Ingénieur in Lille, France and has also studied in Switzerland and the USA. 

Sami is married with two sons and a daughter.
