Arla owners vote yes to Walhorn merger

Today, Arla’s Board of Representatives voted yes to the proposed merger with the Belgian cooperative, EGM Walhorn. Walhorn’s representatives will vote tomorrow.

The Board of Representatives of EGM Walhorn and Arla Foods vote on the proposed merger in separate meetings on May 13 and 14. For the merger to go ahead, approval by at least 75 per cent of the representatives of each of the two cooperatives is required. Subject to member approval and approval of the competition authorities, the merger is set to complete at the end of July 2014.

Arla votes:
Yes: 174 votes (94 per cent)
No: 11 votes (6 per cent)
