French Lactalis buys the import company, Delimo A/S, formerly owned by Arla Foods.

Delimo A/S, headquartered in Skævinge, Denmark, and with an annual turnover of approx. DKK 530 million, primarily imports foreign cheese into Denmark and Sweden. The company employs approx. 120 people – including approx. 50 in its Swedish company, Delimo AB, the former Kronost.

"As owners of Delimo, we have contributed to the import of a huge variety of dairy products to chilled cabinets,” says Arla Foods Vice CEO Povl Krogsgaard. “We have now reached a stage where it is natural for the main supplier, Lactalis, to take the business further.”

Since Arla Foods acquired the shares in Delimo A/S, the new owner, the privately-owned Lactalis, has bought the Italian cheese exporter, Galbani, also a supplier to Delimo. With a turnover of approx. 7.5 billion euros (2006), Lactalis is currently Europe’s largest dairy company.

Arla Foods is an international dairy company owned by more than 8,400 farmers from Denmark, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Arla Foods is one of the leading players in the international dairy arena with well-known brands like Arla®, Lurpak®, Puck® and Castello®. Arla Foods is focused on providing good dairy nourishment from sustainable farming and operations and is also the world's largest manufacturer of organic dairy products.
