Two UK dairies close

The 2003 merger between Arla Foods’ UK subsidiary, Arla Foods plc and Express Dairies is expected to result in the second, and final, phase of rationalisations resulting in the closure of two dairies. The closures will now be discussed with the trade unions involved.
Ruislip Dairy, west of London, is expected to close in January 2005 followed by the Newcastle dairy four months later. The move will affect 40 employees.
