Clearer responsibility, better co-operation, focus on communication and a stronger Nordic profile.

These are some of the cornerstones of the new organisational structure presented by Group Managing Director Åke Modig to Arla Foods’ Supervisory Board on Tuesday.

The new organisational plan, which comes into effect on October 1, will equip Arla Foods for the challenges facing the company.
”We must create an organisation that is ready to implement the new strategy plan and take Arla Foods into a new era,” says Åke Modig. “We must also improve our positions in the market and continue to cut costs.”

Three new pillars will form the heart of the organisation.
Corporate Structure is the Group’s foundation. Comprising Finance, Ett Arla Solutions and Arla Service Center, it will tie daily operations together.
Corporate Relations will be responsible for developing relations and communications. It will incorporate Contact with Co-operative Members, Communication, HR and Corporate Support.
Supply Chain covers Production, Technology, Purchasing and Innovation.

”The aim is to enhance co-operation between the different functions,” says Åke Modig.

The current sales divisions will be gathered together into four business areas.
The Denmark and Sweden Divisions will come under a Nordic area along with the two export markets, Finland and Norway, which will be transferred from the Europe Division. In a new departure, Group Marketing will also become part of the Nordic area.

The Europe and Overseas Divisions will be amalgamated into the business area Export while Arla Foods’ UK operations will come together under the business area UK.
The Ingredients Division will be part of a new Global Protein business area.

The new organisational plan does not affect the Group’s Management Board.

The divisional structure with eight divisions will also be retained under their current management.
