Manchester dairy has been accredited in accordance with the ISO 14001 environmental standard.

Employees at Manchester dairy (liquid milk) in the UK are currently celebrating the dairy’s international environmental accreditation, ISO 14001.

The initial inspection of the dairy, which took place in November 2003, identified a number of areas for improvement. However, following a committed effort from the employees, the final inspection in March went smoothly.

”There was a great deal to do, but everyone pulled their weight so, in the end, there were no problems,” explains Keith Aust, the dairy’s environment co-ordinator.

Besides Manchester dairy, Ashby dairy has been ISO 14001 accredited. Both are former Express dairies.

In Denmark and Sweden around 40% of Arla Foods’ plants are ISO 14001 accredited.
The intention is for all production plants to be ISO 14001 accredited by the end of 2006.
