Arla Foods UK plc is the UK’s foremost supplier of own label products, according to buyers from the British retail sector who voted Arla no. 1 at The Grocer Gold Awards 2004.
The trade magazine, The Grocer, asks buyers to nominate the three top suppliers within a number of categories. The criteria include reliability, price/quality ratio and consistent quality. In April, Arla came first in the dairy category and subsequently competed in a final round where the buyers chose Arla as the best supplier of own label products.
The award came shortly after Asda Wal-Mart appointed Arla as its sole milk supplier.
“Coming so soon after the Asda agreement, the award reflects the respect that Arla enjoys in the UK retail sector,” says Simon Stevens, Sales Director at Arla Foods UK plc who received the award on behalf of Arla at a ceremony at The Dorchester in London.
