Arla Foods’ Supervisory Board has approved the closure of the two dairies, ØkoMælk A/S and Snejbjerg Dairy with effect from December 31, 2003. Staff at the two plants were informed on Wednesday, August 13.

The closure of Økomælk A/S, which produces organic products, is due to substantial overcapacity owing to a lack of sales.
Snejbjerg Mejeri, which has had an annual production of 1,500 tons, makes deep-fried camembert. Its closure is part of Arla Foods’ strategy and structural plan from 2001.
