Four championships for Arla Foods

For the third year in succession, Arla Foods was voted Danish champion in all four main dairy categories.
At the annual National Dairy Exhibition in Herning, Jutland, Års Mejeri won the title for the third time in the cheese category with an emmental 45 . This is the first time that a dairy has won the title for the same product three years running. A total of 696 cheeses participated in the category.
For the second year, Holstebro Dairy secured the championship for the butter category with its 250g salted Lurpak, while Århus Dairy Centre won the title in the fresh products category with an A38. In the competition for blended products, Esbjerg Dairy came first with a vanilla sauce.
The butter competition comprised 20 products while 330 products competed in the fresh products category and 36 in the spreads category.
Arla Foods also won the concept award with Karoline’s Cooking Cream which, with 18% fat and 2% wheat flour, is ideal for hot dishes. In their verdict the judges pointed out that the cream offers consumers a variety of options.
The exhibition’s latest competition, the Scandinavian Dairy Contest for dairy products from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands, was won by Bornholm’s Co-operative Dairy with a Peach Melba yoghurt. The second prize was awarded to Esbjerg Mejeri for a tomato sauce.
The prizes were presented by HRH Prince Joachim, the first member of the Danish Royal family to visit the exhibition since his grandfather, King Frederik IX, opened the exhibition in 1920.
