Arla Foods acquires all shares in Delimo

With effect from June 15, Arla Foods will acquire all shares in the import company Delimo A/S which is partly owned by Director Ib Mortensen and partly by Arla Foods.
Delimo imports speciality cheese from the whole of Europe, particularly from Italy and France, for the Danish retail sector. Arla Foods has held shares in the company since 1988.
Group Director Povl Krogsgaard, Arla Foods, says that the purchase is based on Arla Foods’ knowledge and experience of the dairy sector.

”We’re skilled at marketing, selling and distributing dairy products, ” says Povl Krogsgaard. “At a time when cross-border trade is strongly increasing, also with regard to cheese imports, it is only natural that we involve ourselves in this area.”
Director Ib Mortensen, Delimo A/S, adds:
”Arla Foods’ acquisition will strengthen enhance Delimo’s potential not just in Denmark, but in the whole of the Nordic area”.

Last November, Arla Foods purchased the British cheese wholesaler H.T. Webb, which also imports speciality cheese to the UK market. H.T. Webb, the largest importer of speciality cheese in the UK, has a turnover of DKK 600 million per annum and approx. 300 employees.
Ib Mortensen has been appointed Managing Director of H.T. Webb in the UK with effect from 15 June.
”Overall, we will be able to create further synergies for the two companies,” says Povl Krogsgaard.
Delimo has 55 employees. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

The new Director of Delimo is Steffen Andersen, 45, who was previously Director of AM Foods. Steffen Andersen’s position will be filled by Hans Peter Folden, 39, who is Regional Manager for AM Foods in Germany.
