Following a lengthy process involving 15 local councils, Arla Foods' Supervisory Board has narrowed down the choice of a new Swedish powder factory to Vimmerby or Eksjö. When a final round of negotiations between Arla Foods Ingredients and the two councils is complete, the aim is to present the detailed planning for the new factory in the late summer. A result of Arla Foods' structural plan of 2001, the factory will significantly enhance powder production in Sweden.

The opening of a new site in Vimmerby or Eksjö will mean the closure of the existing plants in

Kjersing in Esbjerg, Denmark and Mjölby and Kimstad in Sweden. The new site will also take over current powder production at the cheese dairies in Kalmar and Falkenberg.

Arla Foods is an international dairy company owned by more than 8,400 farmers from Denmark, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
