President Eduardo Alberto Duhalde of Argentina last week opened Arla Foods Ingredients' new whey protein factory in Argentina when the President, the Governors of the Cordoba and Santa Fé provinces and the Mayor of Porteña untied – not cut - a ribbon at the factory.
President Duhalde then pressed the button which officially started the factory’s production.
The ceremony at the factory, which started production earlier this year, aroused considerable interest among the Argentinian media. More than 100 media representatives, including 5 TV channels and a number of radio stations, covered the event.
After the inauguration, Factory Manager Finn Simonsen gave the guests a tour of the plant which is located 400 miles from Buenos Aries.
Arla Foods was represented by Chairman Lars Lamberg, Deputy Chairman Knud Erik Jensen, Group Directors Finn Bitsch and Andreas Lundby, Executive Director Division Ingredients Peter Lauritzen and Business Unit Director Henrik Andersen. Among the representatives of Sancor, Arla Foods’ Ingredients’ joint venture partner, was Sancor’s Chairman, Miguel Altuna.
The new factory, which is expected to achieve an annual production of 8,000-10,000 tons milk proteins, is part of Arla Foods Ingredients’ strategy for maintaining its position as one of the world’s leading suppliers of milk ingredients.
President Duhalde marked the official opening of the new factory by pressing the start button for the factory’s production line. To the left is Arla Foods' Chairman, Lars Lamberg.
