The opening of a new distribution depot in Northern Saudi Arabia is set to significantly improve Arla Foods’ distribution network in the Desert Kingdom.

Located in the town of Hail, the depot will have a staff of 13 and 5 trucks. With a population of some 500,000, Hail lies in an area of considerable growth – especially because of public investment in the area designed to keep rural populations from migrating to the capital, Riyadh, and other large cities.

“Until now we’ve serviced shops in Hail from a depot 500 km away,” explained Peter Guldager, General Manager of Arla Foods’ Saudi subsidiary, Danya Foods. “In view of the area’s growth we’re confident that the new unit will contribute significantly to increased sales.”

Arla Foods distributes imported products from Denmark as well as locally produced products from the dairy in Riyadh from a chain of depots around Saudi Arabia. The opening of the Hail depot brings the total number of depots in a country the size of Western Europe to nine.

Arla Foods is an international dairy company owned by more than 8,400 farmers from Denmark, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Arla Foods is one of the leading players in the international dairy arena with well-known brands like Arla®, Lurpak®, Puck® and Castello®. Arla Foods is focused on providing good dairy nourishment from sustainable farming and operations and is also the world's largest manufacturer of organic dairy products.
