The construction of new chilled stores for the dairy in Jönköping will begin in February. At a total investment of approx. DKK 100 million, the project comprises the extension of the existing chilled stores and a 8,000 sq.m. new building. The new facility is to be the centre for distribution for special products in southern Sweden.

The investment is part of Arla Foods’ strategy plan for Sweden, which involves total investments of DKK 305 million. A large element of this will go into the expansion of the chilled stores to improve Arla Foods’ Swedish distribution system. Similar improvements will be carried out at the dairies in Stockholm and Gothenburg.

As the existing facilities in Gothenburg, Halmstad, Karlskrona and Linköping are being transferred to Jönköping, approx. 60 new jobs will be created here. At the same time, operations at the expanded chilled stores will be highly automatised. Consequently, the plant will serve as a model for other special products’ stores.
