Both Rosenborg and Lurpak won gold medals within their categories at the large food tasting competition recently held in San Francisco by The American Tasting Institute. The Rosenborg cheeses Danish Mellow Blue, Extra Creamy Danish Blue and Traditional Danish Blue Cheese won the category for imported blue mould cheese and Lurpak came top in the imported butter category.

The awards mean that the Rosenborg and Lurpak brands are entitled to display seals emblazoned with the words "2002 Gold Taste Award" on their US packaging.
"This means a lot to us because it will now be easier to sell our products to the international chains,” said Jens Kauffmann, Marketing Manager, Arla Foods USA. The American Tasting Institute is a private organisation which regularly arranges food tastings with the help of professional chefs. The winning Rosenborg is made at Arla Foods' Høgelund and Grenå dairies. Lurpak is produced at Varde and Holstebro Dairy.
On earlier occasions Extra Creamy Danish Blue has been elected “the World’s Best Cheese” in the prestigious competition Wisconsin Cheese Makers World Championship. In the same competition Lurpak has twice won the title of ”The World’s best butter.”
