The average Dane consumes 139 kg milk and fermented products and 14.5 kg cheese per year which puts them far down the list of cheese consumers, although they come in fourth when it comes to milk. Among milk drinkers, Finland ranks top with 183 kg followed by the Irish with 153 kg. The Swedes are third with 148 kg.

By comparison, the UK totals 117 kg and Germany 91 kg per inhabitant. The statistics, published in the Danish Dairy Board’s dairy statistics, have been prepared on the basis of the most recent figures available. This means that the Danish figures are slightly more up to date than the rest.
