Tyrstrup Dairy’s production of cottage cheese will be transferred to Arla Foods’ dairy in Skövde in Sweden. The transfer, which will affect 10 employees at Tyrstrup, will become effective from mid-2002.

At its meeting on Tuesday, the Board of Directors also approved a DKK 20 million ultra-filtering plant for whey processing at Kalmar.

The new plant will separate the whey, enabling concentrated whey protein to be brought to Nr. Vium and whey permeate to Mjöby for further processing.

The two projects are part of the structural plan approved by Arla Foods Supervisory Board in June.

Arla Foods is an international dairy company owned by more than 8,400 farmers from Denmark, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Arla Foods is one of the leading players in the international dairy arena with well-known brands like Arla®, Lurpak®, Puck® and Castello®. Arla Foods is focused on providing good dairy nourishment from sustainable farming and operations and is also the world's largest manufacturer of organic dairy products.
