Lactalis in Danish co-operation

According to the Danish business daily, Børsen, Europe's second largest dairy company, the French Lactalis, has entered into a strategic alliance with Tholstrup Cheese, the second largest Danish dairy company. As the partnership covers joint sales and marketing of a range of the two companies' products, Lactalis will now be able to use Tholstrup to market its products in Scandinavia.

Lactalis, which ranked no. 1 in Europe until the merger between MD Foods and Arla became effective on April 17, is known for its "President" brand.
Nordmilch, the German dairy group, which is no. 5 in Europe, also has a strong presence in Denmark. Nordmilch sells dairy products through the multiple, Dansk Supermarked, under the Engholm brand.
