MD Foods has still not succeeded in persuading Saudi Arabia and Qatar to revoke their decision to suspend imports of Danish dairy products following a case of BSE in Denmark which, in the view of MD Foods, is based on a misunderstanding since BSE cannot spread via milk. Now that the annual pilgrimage season, the Hajj, is over, MD Foods hopes to persuade the authorities to lift the import ban.

Meanwhile, production for Saudi Arabia has been suspended. Following an agreement with the trades unions, Bislev Dairy has sent home 52 workers while Akafa has withdrawn 17 employees from the production of sterile cream.
