The MD Foods-Arla merger has been approved by the Greek authorities. This means that the competition authorities in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Germany, UK and Greece have now approved the merger. Sweden's approval is expected on April 10.

The proposed merger between MD Foods and Arla in December last year was reported to the competition authorities in Denmark and Sweden as well as in a number of other countries where Arla and MD Foods have substantial market shares. With the exception of Sweden, all these countries have now taken the view that the merger will have no detrimental impact on competition.

While the merger was approved by the Danish competition authorities in January, Swedish legislation allows the competition authorities to consider the matter over a 4 month period. This period will expire on April 10.
