On Tuesday MD Foods’ Board of Directors set the market supplement for Danish co-operative members at 6 per cent of the basic price with effect from October 30. This is the equivalent of 12.75 øre per kg standardised milk and results in an overall payment on account of 235.95 øre per kg against 231.68 øre per kg previously.

Group Managing Director Jens Bigum points out that despite more favourable sales in a number of export markets, costs have increased, too.
“A transport-intensive company like ours is particularly vulnerable to rising fuel costs,” said Jens Bigum.
“At the beginning of the new financial year, we are seeing signs of improvement in the milk price for Danish co-operative owners and a more or less unchanged milk price for Swedish co-operative owners,” said Jens Bigum.
