The first turf will be cut this week for the planned expansion of MD Foods Mozzarella plant Rødkærsbro Dairy from the existing 20,000 sq m to 26,000 sq m. The expansion will enable production of shredded cheese to be increased from 13,000 tons to 23,000 tons as well as providing space for new types of packaging for shredded cheese.
The project also extends the packaging hall by 2,000 sq. m to allow four or five extra packaging lines. A further 2,000 sq. m cold store will also be built. In addition, there will be new pallet stores, a fresh goods laboratory, changing rooms, meeting rooms and an applied technology kitchen.
The kitchen will be used for making pizzas with a variety of mozzarella or combinations of various cheeses for visiting customers.
The construction is expected to be completed on April 1, 2000.
