In July, when temperatures reach 50°C, MD Foods is in the final stages of completion of its cold store facilities in the port of Jeddah on the Red Sea.

Covering 2,000 sq. m., the cold store will be the distribution centre for the western part of Saudi Arabia, an area extending 2,000 km from north to south.

MD Foods' full range of products for Saudi Arabia, including butter, cheese in glass jars and sterilised canned cream, will arrive in Jeddah from where the products will be distributed across the desert kingdom.

"The strong growth of recent years has necessitated an extension to our cold store capacity," says Peter Guldager, the new General Manager for MD's Saudi subsidiary, Danya Foods.

"The old cold store is located in the centre of Jeddah and is not only in an inconvenient location, but is also rather outdated.
