Expert Panel convened to discuss tagatose sweetener

MD Foods Ingredients (MDFI) had a meeting with an Expert Panel to evaluate a low calorie sweetener tagatose and to determine whether it is Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS). While progress was made, MDFI stated that no final decision was reached by the Panel. MDFI and the Panel agreed to continue discussions in the near future to clarify remaining issues.
MDFI has acquired the global license rights for the sweetener of the American company Biospherics and has already met considerable interest for the sweetener from potential customers.
