Senior Category Development Manager - Düsseldorf

Arla is currently further building up the Customer Marketing department. The purpose is to transform the organization into a strategic department that has as a key voice on which products will be developed into the product portfolio of Arla Foods in the German FMCG market.  That also means that the Senior Category Development Managers will not be involved into customer projects in the retail but instead purely provide a strategic direction to the Sales & Marketing organization. This much more strategic approach will allow us to hire in total 2 new Senior Category Development Managers at our German headoffice in Düsseldorf. You will report directly into the Director Customer Marketing

Your challenge

  • Own Category Development:
    • Influence Category Strategies and Category Management for Arla Brands and Private Label opportunities
    • Deliver strategic input to new product innovation processes
    • Identify Sales fundamentals and optimize 4P’s for Brand and Private Label
    • Own Shopper & Channel Development:
      • Lead Total Dairy Category Vision & Strategy across channels (Retail, Foodservice, Convenience, e-Commerce)
      • Plan “Destination FRESH” shopper activations
      • Own the Picture of Success and Shopper mission instore location plan
  • Take a holistic approach to optimizing investment based on deep understanding of promotions & other investment types from multiple perspectives (consumer, retailer and financial)
  • Make action-oriented recommendations on shopper investment guidelines to senior management based on insight including contingency plans in response to changing market dynamics
  • Drive collaboration with colleagues in sales, marketing and finance to optimise promotions and shape investment priorities
  • Participate in global cross-country trade promotion management and trade promotion optimization program
  • Lead cross-functional planning and review sessions to ensure learnings are shared widely
  • Approve and monitor overall shopper investment plans

Your profile

  • At least 6 years professional experience in a holistic role in Channel Management, Business Development or Category Management within a global FMCG company; ideally in a matrix organization
  • Successful higher degree (Master or Bachelor) with a focus on business administration, Marketing or similar
  • A strong analytical mindset with the ability to drain the right conclusions from data (market research, Nielsen, GfK) and transform them into rock-solid business cases
  • Strong communicator that is able to present his business cases to senior stakeholders and influence them to gain their commitment
  • Finally, business fluent German and English skills round up your profile
