We currently have a fantastic opening for an experienced and ambitious Production Manager to join the leadership team at our Oswestry site. Reporting into the Site Director, this is a high profile role with advancement opportunities, based at a fast paced, high complexity senior site with an excess of 600+ finished product SKUs.
About the Role
Oswestry factory covers 8 acres and provides continuous 7 day/24 hour operation packing with circa 390 employees and 12 lines converting bulk cheese into a wide range of consumer preferred formats . As Production Manager for our sliced and grated cheese section, you will lead a team of Production Team Leaders who work predominantly on a rotating 3 on 3 off pattern. Indirectly you will manage around 100 Operatives and Team Leaders. Working closely with other Area Managers and departments such as Planning & Logistics, Process, Engineering and QEHS, you will ensure production plans are achieved in the most timely and efficient manner. While we are looking for a hands on manager, this role requires a strategic leader who can deliver success through a team and across shifts. You will be responsible for ensuring shift consistency so that customer requirements are met at any time in a 24/7 site. Your ability to manage diverse teams, state of the art automation technology, product changeovers and health and safety in a fast paced environment is key to your success.
You will be responsible for creating and implementing a departmental business plan, in line with site and wider business objectives. Oswestry is a very high performing site so we are looking for an inspiring Production Manager who can help take the site to the next level. You will work closely with the PTD Manager and Lean team to ensure the production department is operating to optimum efficiency, monitoring performance on a constant basis using lean tools and techniques to deliver high performance and continuous improvement.
We are looking for a high calibre Production Manager who has the drive and motivation to take a high performing site and department to the next level. You will have a proven track record in Production Management within an FMCG or Food Manufacturing environment. Whilst you will be managing a large team, we require someone who has worked within highly automated processes and is able to deliver improvements via people and technology. In a very fast paced department, you must demonstrate outstanding communication, decision making and influencing skills. A cross functional mind-set is required in order to understand the requirements and pressures of other departments. You must also be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of lean tools and techniques. Furthermore, you will have sound financial and business acumen with the ability to manage a departmental budget.
