What is the job?
Working in the global Quality, Environment, Health & Safety (QEHS) department, you will be responsible for leading the development and deployment of Arla’s global environmental standards across over 20 production sites in Denmark. Supporting site teams and QEHS Business Partners, you will be the expert voice on environmental matters ensuring compliance to relevant standards. As subject matter expert, you give teams guidance and develop initiatives to drive risk reduction and organisational competencies. While much of the job will be in a preventative mindset, you will also, of course, support incident and crisis management situations including contact with authorities and follow up actions.
This job is heavily focused on stakeholder management and engagement, where you will be tasked with fostering, driving and in some areas, implementing a culture of environmental excellence and best practice. It will be for you to proactively identify important stakeholders and work together to achieve your objectives.
Due to the multi-site nature of the position, you can expect to spend c50% of your time travelling across our production sites. As such, your home location is less important but preferred to be within commutable distance to our HQ in Viby, Aarhus,
Other primary tasks will involve:
- Working closely with others to ensure Arla’s ISO 14001 certification is met and maintained.
- Supporting energy and water optimisation teams to develop and implement initiatives.
- Monitoring existing, forthcoming and new environmental legislation to ensure Arla do not fall behind.
- Coordinating environmental audits and assessments.
- Creation of improvement plans and activities to address performance or compliance issues.
- Working with the global environmental team in other countries to develop standards, initiatives and best practice.
Who are you?
Educated in an engineering or similar technical area, you come with 5-10 years experience of environmental, regulatory and industry requirements in the Danish market. Experience from food / dairy / FMCG is preferred but other manufacturing industries will bring some welcome fresh perspectives.
You have a good understanding of ISO 14001 requirements, application and management with the ability to turn this into an engaging message that sees stakeholders buy in and support your objectives. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, so you can navigate through Arla’s organisation and deliver on this high priority agenda both at a strategic and operational level. Experience in an auditing role is also required.
Finally, you must be fluent in both English and Danish.
