Arla has once again teamed up with several big hitters in the dairy industry as well as The National Skills Academy for Food & Drink to deliver the award winning EDEN Trainee Dairy Technology programme. With new technology and increased automation there is a growing demand for highly trained Dairy Technologists to help improve competitiveness and respond to changing demands.
We want to educate Dairy Technologists to become not only familiar with the fundamental principles of dairy production processes, but also innovative, creative, motivated and confident enough to develop the UK dairy industry.
It's certainly not for the faint-hearted - we'll expect you to work hard and be 100% committed to fulfilling your potential. You will need to take the lead in driving your own development and show energy, drive and passion as you work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship and Foundation Degree in Dairy Technology - and a career with Arla Foods.
We still have final places available at the following locations – Melton Mowbray (Leicestershire), Taw Valley (Devon), Westbury (Wiltshire), Settle (North Yorkshire), Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire) and Llandyrnog (North Wales).
On this 3 year structured programme you will spend residential periods each year gaining technical know-how at a purpose-built, multi-million pound training dairy at Reaseheath College in Cheshire, the specialist training academy for our industry. When you're not at college, you'll be based at an Arla Foods site putting your learning into practice. You will need to impress us with your desire to learn and your ability to take the lead and make your career ambitions for the future a reality. A passion for dairy is a must, along with a desire to learn with existing literacy, numeracy and communication skills. You will also need 3 good GCSE results (including Maths, English and a Science), plus 1 A Level or the equivalent and an interest in the dairy industry.
Candidates must be prepared to live away from home (12 weeks in Year 1, 18 weeks Year 2, 12 weeks Year 3, split into 2 blocks) whilst at College. You may, from time to time, need to visit other sites to gain a full understanding of a certain topic. This is an excellent opportunity to earn whilst you learn the ropes of one of the fastest-paced industry's there is. But make no mistake, this is no easy option and our limited places will be filled by people who are ready to take a pro-active approach towards their own growth and personal and professional development.
On offer is a competitive first year salary of £16,000 plus Arla will pay your tuition fees, college accommodation, food and expenses. Once graduated will have skills that are in short supply in the dairy industry and across Arla.
