Director of Owner Communications, Aarhus

Are you a strategic communications professional with a passion for the farming and food industry? Then take this exciting and unique opportunity to lead a forward thinking communications agenda with our farmer owners.

As Director of Owner Communications, you will report to the Senior Vice President for Global Corporate Communications and lead a cross national team of 6, based at our headquarters in Aarhus.

Lead owner communications and cross country working

As a cooperative, Arla has a unique and relatively rare owner structure. Parallel with being the owners of Arla, over 12,000 farmers in 7 countries are at the same time suppliers of raw milk, being the foundation for Arla’s many well-known products.

It is therefore crucial that our owners receive high quality communications ensuring their understanding and support of Arla’s corporate and strategic goals and that they are actively supporting the business. Working with a team across the UK, Germany, Sweden and Denmark, you will use a range of different platforms to deliver aligned communications to over 12,000 farmers in northern and central Europe.

As a forward thinking leader, you will join us in driving innovation in the way we engage and communicate with our owners, specifically embracing digital and smartphone technologies.  Close collaboration is therefore required with both our Member Relations and IT functions to deliver effectively.

You will develop global strategies, policies and messages such as our Owner Newsletter, Owner Website, Board of Representatives information and owner meeting, as well as ad hoc projects.

This is a high profile position that will require daily collaboration and providing expertise to, amongst others, Arla’s CEO, SVP Communications, VP of Member Relations and the Board of Representatives.

Passionate about farming and the food industry

Our successful candidate will be an experienced communications leader with a passion and understanding for the farming and food industry. An empathetic and understanding approach to the challenges our farmers face is key, as you are responsible for bridging the gap between management and our owners.

As a strong people leader, you will lead a team across different countries ensuring a consistent, yet relevant message is delivered. You will be confident communicating at senior levels with experience from an organisation that requires political and international understanding. Fluent English skills are required and preferably one of Danish, Swedish or German. You will have a passion for developing innovative communication strategies, with knowledge of digital platforms a clear advantage.
