Accountant Receivables Manager
Karolina’s job in 3 words: People. Possibilities. Creativity.
Karolina became a valuable member of the Arla team in 2008 when she applied for a role in the newly established shared service centre in Gdansk, Poland. Over the years, she has held various positions within accounts payable – from being an accountant to becoming a Subject Matter Expert to leading a team. Karolina has also been involved in various transition projects that required intense collaboration and coordination between Arla’s head office, the local markets and the shared service centre. “My educational background in Scandinavian languages and my general interest in foreign cultures has definitely helped me to understand and work in a better way across different countries, which is crucial in my job.”
Coordinating accountancy processes across borders
Today, Karolina is heading up the account receivables team in Poland, which is responsible for coordinating various accountancy processes across borders: from handling invoices and reporting, to credit management and facilitating SAP implementation in selected countries. Karolina is also responsible for preparing internal auditing and creating an action plan based on the results of this year’s colleague engagement survey results.
Together with her team, Karolina is exploiting opportunities to harmonise, standardise and automate processes to ensure an efficient use of resources.“We question and critically reflect on established routines then try to sense opportunities for improvement.”
Being part of a team characterised by mutual support, trust and fun
Karolina believes that for projects to move forward in a quick and efficient manner, colleagues must grow into true teams.
"Over the years, I have had the pleasure of being part of high performing teams that were characterised by trust, competence and mutual support. If we continually inspire and help one another, I believe anything is possible."
Karolina may not have the classic finance background, but she has successfully grown into her roles by learning along the way, seeking support and advice from colleagues and leaders, and keeping an open mind when it comes to innovative solutions.
