New Media Manager
Maria’s job role in 3 words: Variety. Development. Challenge.
Maria was born and raised in Sweden and she has been part of the Swedish digital team since she joined Arla in 2016 – just a few years after her university graduation. She started out as social media officer with responsibility for the Arla brand, and in 2018 she was appointed New Media Manager.
Being part of Arla's digital journey
As New Media Manager, Maria drives the digital agenda in Sweden and is responsible for a team that handles all the local social media channels. The position is new in the Swedish team and was opened as a result of the decision to create an in-house competency centre or “agency” in Arla Sweden. Since June, the team has been working with content, media buying and community management for all the brands all of which were handled by external providers before. “It’s an exciting time as we are building an in-house production and digital media buying unit in order to work more agile, and to create more efficient results for all our brands digitally”, Maria states.
Experimenting and staying curious
Maria particularly appreciates the balance between tradition and modernity within Arla and that she can draw on existing expertise while also experimenting with new ideas without the fear of failure. She has grown with the challenges that have come her way, is not afraid to ask her colleagues in the digital team for support and she says curiosity is key. To broaden her digital knowledge and enable her to stay on top of the game, Arla has supported Maria with external training. Furthermore Maria has joined the Swedish leadership programme Guldkalven this year.
