In its first full financial year Arla Foods achieved a turnover of DKK 38,133 billion and profits of DKK 1,157 billion.

For the parent company turnover was DKK 24,526 billion with profits of DKK 998 million.

Arla Foods’ Managing Director Jens Bigum described the result as ”particularly satisfactory and significantly above the budget.”

The overall result per kg standardised milk was 260.68 Danish øre per kg in Denmark and 308.19 Swedish øre per kg in Sweden. As the Danish milk price was originally budgeted at DKK 2.48, the result for the year was 5.1% above budget, a rise of 5.8% on the year.
At 297 Swedish øre per kg, the Swedish milk price was also above the budgeted level – by 3.8%. This represents an increase of 1.5% on last year.
Extraordinarily good results in the subsidiaries mean that a total of 2.12 Danish øre (2.59 Swedish øre) derive from the subsidiaries.

With 122 votes for and 24 against, Arla Foods’ Board of Representatives Tuesday decided to set the supplementary payment at DKK 690 million with DKK 467 million allocated to consolidation.
The Board of Representatives thus approved the Supervisory Board’s proposal that Danish co-operative owners receive a supplementary payment of 15.52 øre per kg while the Swedish co-operative owners will be paid supplementary payment of 2.5 Swedish øre per kg over and above the 5 Swedish øre already paid as additional payment.

Jens Bigum ascribed the result to the favourable international trends in the dairy industry, the synergy effects from the MD Foods-Arla merger, renewed focus on profitability and continuing structural change.
