In terms of its environmental work, Arla Foods is a world class organisation. Big words, perhaps, but nonetheless true, believes Group Environmental Manager Jan D. Johannesen, Corporate Quality Environment Health and Safety.

“We’re far better than we think, so we should be proud of what we’ve achieved and speak out about it. Moreover, being fully transparent about our environmental work is part of the environmental strategy, which was approved at the turn of the year,” he adds.

Consequently, Arla Foods is supporting and contributing to the “Eco 4 the World” series of programmes produced in co-operation with the UN’s environmental programme, UNEP.

Broadcast on CNBC on Saturday, the programme features images from Rødkærsbro dairy and shows some Arla dairy cows. Group Executive Director Michael Stevns also explains how, in the space of five years, Arla Foods has reduced its water consumption by 5 per cent and its energy consumption by 9 per cent.

Arla Foods is also currently formulating a climate strategy which is much in demand internally as well as among the Group’s partners, says Jan D. Johannesen.

The programme can be viewed on the following dates:

28 April at 11.00:  CNBC Europe (available throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa).
28 and 29 April: 13:00  CNBC World (in the US).

The programme will also be shown on channels on the Television Trust International (TVE) network, which has partners in 42 countries, and aboard Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Dragon Air, and RTM (Malaysia).
