Wednesday saw the first day of trading in Arla Foods UK plc’s shares on the London Stock Exchange.

The Arla shares replace the shares of the former Express Dairies following the UK authorities’ approval last week of the merger between Arla and Express Dairies. At the opening of trading, Arla Foods UK plc shares were priced at 44.25 pence per share.

Express Dairies' shareholders registered on October 21 at 6 pm are expected to receive a dividend of 9.6 pence per share in accordance with the merger agreement from March 2003.
The dividend will be paid on November 4, 2003.
