Danish Agricultural Council President Peter Gæmelke expressed his pride after he and the Danish Government’s Select Committee for Food visited Arla Foods’ exhibition at Anuga in Cologne on the second day of the food fair yesterday.
“It’s a very fine stand and as a farmer myself I’m proud of it,” said Peter Gæmelke. “The charge is often levelled against us that we don’t have a varied enough selection of agricultural products. Arla Foods’ exhibition has completely disproved this.
As well as Arla Foods’ organic products, the visitors were particularly taken with future concepts as presented by Innovation, the department concerned with product development.
The concept “Adopt your own cow” where, via the internet, consumers can adopt a cow and follow its life and welfare via a web camera, went down well.
The politicians were also fascinated by “speaking packaging” which can indicate how much is left in a carton, the temperature of its contents and the use-by date.
