6 Arla cheeses scoop gold in Wisconsin

One Swedish, one American and three Danish Arla Foods dairies were named world champions after this year's World Championship Cheese Contest in Wisconsin, USA.

Arla Foods' dairies in Kalmar, Sweden and Hollandtown, USA and Taulov and Nr. Vium in Denmark each took gold while Holstebro Cream Cheese, also in Denmark, landed no fewer than two gold medals in the world's largest cheese and butter competition. The prestigious competition, one of the most important within the dairy industry, attracted more than 2,000 products this year.

The six gold medals
· Kalmar dairy in the "baby swiss style" category for a Greve.
· Hollandtown in the category "Pepper Flovored Cheeses (Other Natural Styles) for a jalapeno havarti.
· Nr. Vium dairy in the "havarti" category for havarti.
· Taulov dairy in the "havarti flavoured" category for havarti with dill.
· Holstebro Cream Cheese in the "flavoured soft cheeses" category for a whipped cream cheese with garlic.
· Holstebro Cream Cheese in the "flavoured cheeses with sweet or 'dessert' con-diments" category for a cream cheese with strawberries.

The silver and bronze medals
· Nr. Vium dairy won silver while Taulov dairy took bronze in the "havarti fla-voured" category
· Holstebro dairy was awarded silver and Nr. Vium dairy bronze within the "fla-voured soft cheeses" category.
· In the "havarti" category, Nr. Vium dairy won silver, while Hollandtown dairy in the US came in third.
· Danske Birkum Ost won silver in "Snack Cheeses".
· The Swedish Kvibille dairy won bronze in "Flavoured Cheeses with Sweet or 'Dessert' Condiments".
· Hollandtown Dairy won bronze in "Flavored Gouda"
