Another increase in the Arla price
Arla Foods has decided to increase the price paid to its co-operative members – the so-called Arla price – by 7.5 øre with effect from 28 June 2010.
Continuing progress in Arla’s international industrial markets and a generally increasing demand for milk have enabled Arla Foods to raise the Arla price, i.e. the amount the company pays to its co-operative members per kg milk. As a consequence, the Arla price will be 237.6 øre per kg for conventional milk and 295.5 øre per kg for organic milk with effect from 28 June, 2010. ”Global market prices in the industrial area combined with exchange rate developments have resulted in a significant boost to earnings. At the same time, we’re seeing that the increased demand for milk is beginning to impact on prices in the retail sector which have remained low all through the economic recession,” says CEO Peder Tuborgh. This is the fifth time in succession for the Arla price to be adjusted upwards. The increases since October 2009 total 50 Danish øre.
